The $3,000 Car From Bajaj Is $500 Classier Than the $2,500 Tata Nano
It should be obvious to most that a $2,500 car is destined to fail. But a $3,000 car... GENIUS! Not wanting to be upstaged (though, upstaged anyways), Bajaj has launched a prototype of what it calls the $3,000 people's car for the people that can afford another 0.25 lakh. The car is being designed through a partnership with Renault/Nissan and we'll therefore see a cheap version of this car from those automakers.
The only drawback is that this particular prototype might need another two years of development before it hits the street while its rival the Tata Nano will be clogging the streets of Delhi before the end of the year.
UltraBattery developed to drive hybrid cars to the next level
Take one part supercapacitor, one part lead acid battery -- the old school kind -- and you've got an energy cell technology development that at least one power research geek is calling "a leap forward for low emission transport and uptake of [hybrid cars]." Speciously dubbed the UltraBattery by its developers at Australia's CSIRO, this new cell type features a life cycle increase of 4x and power increase of 2x over current batteries, yet is supposedly 70% less expensive than the ancient Ni-MH cells often used in hybrids today. It's even passed "the 100,000 mile mark," implying the UltraBattery is robust enough to roll out to consumer vehicles without fear of drain on capacity. Screw the hybrids though, bring on the plug-in all-electrics, UltraBattery or otherwise.
Covered Cars
It's only two days until I move back to Brooklyn. We found a place on Cranberry Street: another one-bedroom rental, but bigger than our current apartment. The place is on the 8th floor of a 1930s-style apartment building, and it's got three exposures, with views of both bridges and downtown. The lease is a one-year with an option for a second-- so the plan is to use that time to find a place nearby to buy.

Miniature Racing Cars Are Latest Fad in Hollywood
“PUTT-PUTTING” in miniature racing cars, Hollywood’s latest fad, is making a hit with the fair young ladies of our film capital.
Tiny one-lung gasoline engines give more than enough speed to the tiny cars, and even the wisest of feminine drivers have been known to take spills on the curves.
Races are held on the city streets, with starters, movie cameras to catch the spills, and of course mechanics to tinker with the motors when trouble threatens.
